“Composition 26” (Commissioned Piece) – Completed!

Finally after a long year of preparing for the art show, I was able to complete a new piece, and a commissioned one at that. It feels good to work on a new painting. As requested, the client told me she favored the color lime green which I used it throughout the painting. In fact, the only parts that have black lining are the lime green shapes to help the color come out more. Usually, I tend to use as many colors as possible but this time I decided to chose five other colors that I think work best with lime green. The client is interested in flowers and nature so I decided to incorporate the shapes to resemble it in an abstract way. When working on the painting I had originally positioned it in landscape but after presenting to the client she decided the horizontal way worked better for her. That is a feature of my concept, viewers can turn it around and recognize new...

Art International Zurich 2017

My first major art exhibition is in the books! It was a great experience into the art world with all the great artists present throughout the whole exhibition. This was my time to show the public my concept and what I do. We put a lot of effort to make sure my stand stood out and I was even lucky enough to be right by the entrance.  I am also thankful for the great crowd we had every day. Lots of very interesting people who really enjoyed my artwork and with whom I was able to exchange more intimately on the details of my work. I definitely can’t wait to be in another...

Start of “Composition 26” – Commissioned Piece

I am happy to say that I am officially ready for the Art International Zurich art show! Meaning that, besides follow-ups,  I will work on a new piece. Better yet, a commissioned piece. I have been asked to produce on a small canvas using large shapes while incorporating lime green color elements. The size I have chosen is another 80 X 60 cm canvas. This is a standard format that I have already used on two other compositions. I enjoy this format and it’s a good size for smaller pieces.  ...

Art Show Announcement!

Hi everyone, this is happening for real. My first official, large scale art show is coming up in September. I have been accepted to present the best pieces of my collection ‘Color Explosion’ at the 2017 Art International Zurich on September 22-24 at Pulse 5 in the buzzing Zurich West district. My focus at the moment is to make sure that my pieces are pitch perfect for the show; putting a lot of effort into the details and on the finishing touches. I will also send invites to friends and family as well as art galleries in Switzerland and beyond. I hope to see as many of you as possible at the...

“Composition 25” Completed!

Just spent a good part of the winter 2016/17 working on this piece but I loved the way it turned out. Adding more triangular shapes to my style was definitely a good idea. I also like the depth of the painting, especially in the center of the two combined canvases. A bit like an agglomeration, the depth is accentuated by the triangles in the outskirt directing to the outside of the...

Start of “Composition 25”

For this new piece, I want to continue the multiple canvas concept that I created before with previous pieces. This time I chose two 100 x 40 cm canvases and decided to experiment something new and work horizontally primarily with triangle shapes around center of gravity in the middle of the two canvases. I cannot wait to start experimenting with this new project and I’m sure the outcome will be...

“Composition 24 – Part 1 & 2” Completed!

Here we go, as I mentioned in my previous post, “Composition 24” will go to two different families who share a lot together. In fact the left part of the composition will be given as a wedding present to the other family. This is really exciting because it is exactly what I want people to experience with my concept: lasting emotions of happiness. This painting will undoubtedly re-inforce the bond between these families and I am thankful that I was part of...

Start of “Composition 24 – Part 1 & 2”- Commissioned Piece

I was asked to do two commissioned pieces, each for two different families. One of the paintings will be given as a wedding present for the first family, the other for home decoration in the other family. The story behind this is that the two families have been extremely close throughout their entire lives which sparked the idea of creating two canvases to be part of one big piece, making them “connect” to one another and for ever. Each party will then have a piece of the entire...

“Composition 23”-Completed!

I am delighted to present the final product of “Composition 23”. It has been quite the journey since the beginning as the overall canvas is one of the biggest I have made. The piece also required a very high level of detail work as similar patterns can be found in the four canvases. The challenge was to replicate color patterns that make sense togethers and brighten the room. The painting has a motion from inside to outside and a spiral dynamic as well. The choice of colors reflects my philosophy when approaching a piece: let the feelings do the work....

Start of “Composition 23”

For “Composition 23”, I have decided to incorporate four canvases into one big piece. I find that a composition of multiple canvases offers a great opportunity to brighten a room as I have noticed from previous experience. As you can see, I have started by sketching design patterns using a pencil before applying the first color layer and define the color combinations. I am trying to achieve a design in which all canvases are connected to each...

“Composition 22” (Novopac)-Completed!

On July 3rd, 2015 I presented my painting for Novopac’s 25th year anniversary. Below is the speech that I gave the owner and the team: “A quarter of a century is an important milestone. I am extremely happy to present you this painting to commemorate Novopac’s great achievement. For this project, Pierre had only one single requirement; he wanted a painting that represents the fundamental value of Novopac: Authenticity: The different design patterns around the company’s logo symbolize a sample of Novopac’s most successful products. Those product serve the needs of customers by packaging their food and noon-food goods. This means that Novopac’s products have to convey the exact value of authenticity. Flexibility: The designs of the packaging are painted in all possible positions. Just like the company, these patterns are not restricted by rigorous processes and standardization.  Also, anyone can interpret the shapes in the painting the way he or she wants, and the flexibility and creativity in these shapes is infinite as well. Novopac is similar in lots of ways; the company can very quickly react to market trends and to the needs of its customers. Innovation: Within each design, different combinations of colors and patterns are defined. This offers a symbol for the exchange of ideas that the teams at Novopac generate. Today’s innovative ideas will define the success of tomorrow and will strengthen the market position of the company. In addition, I have tried to integrate lots of information from the company’s website in order to offer a complete picture of Novopac’s history and its bright future. I had a lot of fun completing this challenging project and I hope that Pierre will find a nice spot on the wall to hang this...

Start of “Composition 22”-Commissioned piece

A packaging company in Switzerland approached me and asked to create a piece for their 25th anniversary. The only direction I receive from the owner is: “create something that reflects our company’s value for authenticity, flexibility and innovation” – Challenge accepted. In order to start conceptualizing and arrange my thoughts, I asked if I could get a sample of the firm’s products. With a delivery date on July 3rd 2015, my schedule is going to be epic but I am looking forward to this new endeavor....
