“Composition 20” Completed!

After a break during the year end holidays and a trip to Italy, I was able to complete “Composition 20.” The fairly small size of each section required cautious work and extreme concentration in order to achieve the result I was aiming for this piece. I wanted to contrast these small sections with a black outlining that is thicker than those in my other pieces. Much like that of “Composition 15,” this 150 x 50 cm canvas is longitudinal; as you can see it is almost as tall as me!...

“Composition 21” Completed!

Two and a half weeks of hard work are gone; my painting is finished and ready to be shipped to its future owner! As you can see, I combined round shapes with sharp edges and played with the contrasts that lime green, purple and yellow offer. In addition, black areas give more depth to the painting while accentuating the association among the other colors. Should you also want your made-to-order painting to spice up your bedroom, living room or even bathroom, do not hesitate to contact me so that we can discuss...

Start of “Composition 21”-Commissioned piece

Taking a break from working on “Composition 20” due to the fact that I have been given a request by a customer to create a painting for them. The guidelines that I was given was to “put my heart into it.” Meaning, I have freedom to create whatever I want. As long as, I incorporate purple, lime green, and black as the main colors. I, of course, have chosen other colors that I feel will enhance the painting. I am truly excited that a client allowed me to let my inspiration realize this...

It’s been a while since I realized a longitudinal piece. “Composition 15” was  horizontal, perfect for display in a a living room or dining room. For this one, I want to experiment verticality. As you can see, this canvas is almost as tall as me!  ...

“Composition 19” Completed!

After three and a half months, I am happy to say that my next masterpiece is complete! I couldn’t be happier with the end result.  So much energy flowing through each canvas. This is a piece where you can’t just stare at and walk away. Every time you look at it, you will discover and feel because of the vibration this piece offers. Whenever you feel down, this artwork will help brighten up your mood and see hope in the downs of life. That’s the power of colors. Or that’s what I believe at least.  ...

Now onto my next creation.  After receiving a lot of positive feedback on “Composition 16” for the display of the multiple canvases, I decided that I wanted to make my next masterpiece similar.  This time I chose to take on three, 60 X 80 cm, canvases to be constructed into one big piece of work. As you can see, the concept is to make one canvas communicate with the next, all this in an explosion of color. It’s going to be interesting to see what the evolution as the weeks go on.  ...

“Composition 18” Completed!

Two months of intense work and the largest painting I have done so far is finished! If you want your room to make the statement, embed this piece on a broad wall to enhanced the feel of brightness and volume. In coming up with the design of this composition, I started off drawing shapes that took another dimension when I added the colors to them. Experiencing with shapes, shades and highlights is the way I tend to enjoy developing my...

Start of “Composition 18”

On January 3rd, 2014 I had my civil marriage in Des Moines, Iowa.  I am legally married!  My now husband is originally from Switzerland and ended up finding a full-time job in Zurich.  So off to Switzerland we go. My main focus for now is, of course, my art, as well as, learning German.  For the fact that I am not Swiss and don’t know German, it’s difficult to find a job right away. But that’s fine with me because I would rather focus my time on producing more work for my collection.  In our new apartment, I have my own space dedicated to my studio where I can work on my paintings. The cool thing is that we’re on the first floor and people walking outside can see me while I paint. This is funny. For my next pieces, I want to experiment working with a large canvases. For this one, the size that I chose was 140 X 100 cm (metric system now that I am in Europe).  Funny fact, I couldn’t have gone bigger even if I wanted to because the canvas almost didn’t fit in the car.  But then again, European cars are much smaller than American...

Start of “Composition 17”

Just moved to Brooklyn, NY in August.  In order to make a living in New York, I have been focusing my time on finding a job in order to finance some supplies for a new painting to work on. As always, I am eager to start.  My hope was to find an art-based job but I soon found out how competitive it is here.  Since I know I am only going to be living in New York for a short time, I have to find something fast. After about a month and a half of searching, I have found a job as a sales assossiate at Billabong, right on Times Square. I am ecstatic.  Billabong had been one of my favorite clothing brands for years.  Now that I am making money, I can finally buy supplies to paint! I decided to work on a small canvas, 24″ X 18,” because I knew that I would have to ship it when I left New York.  Plus, I didn’t have my own art easel, which makes the job more...

Art Show

Yesterday, July 19th, 2013 I had my first art show! It was held at The Great Frame Up located in West Des Moines, Iowa, where I had been interning for the summer. I showcased my most recent artwork, as well as, my older pieces from when I first began to advance as a painter. Moreover, since I was interning at a The Great Frame Up, I was able to frame four of my beginning paintings! Framing artwork gives the piece in question a whole new perspective. Check those three framed painting at the bottom of the wall behind...

Started my summer internship at The Great Frame Up in West Des Moines, Iowa.  It is a custom framing shop that strives on high-quality products without overlooking its customer service. A good way to learn framing techniques that will be benificial to me and my paintings down the road. Definitely looking forward to that experience. At the end of my internship, I will have the opportunity to put on my own art show at the store.  That’s an additional motivation to create a new piece and expand my collection that I will be putting on display. I chose to work with ten 8″ x 10″ canvases that I arranged in a way that would create a story.  In fact, I plan on creating a design that will be spread throughout each of the canvases. Can’t wait to get...
